We harvested our dandelions just in time this year — we're still learning how to use our flowers, leaves and roots, and we can't wait to try these great ways to eat our yard's bounty.

What Are Dandelions Good For?

1. Gluten-free Dandelion Bread

An interesting way to use those dandelions! Made with dandelion petals and a few other simple ingredients, it's something we can all do (even me, the non-cook).


2. Dandelion Greens and Fennel Salad

Such an easy recipe with tons of nutrient-dense ingredients like dandelion greens, fennel and bean sprouts with a simple dressing that includes apple cider vinegar, lemon and a little maple syrup.


3. Bacon Sandwich with Dandelion Greens

Bacon. Need I say more? This sandwich is a super tasty combination of bacon, onions and dandelion greens under a sauce of mustard, balsamic vinegar, mayo and garlic (we sub gluten-free bread).


4. Dandelion Pesto

Exactly the same recipe as regular pesto made with basil, dandelion greens subbed in. We're huge fans of homemade pesto — no soy, no added ingredients or preservatives, nothing unknown. Perfection!


5. Dandelion Jelly

A tasty way to use those flower petals. I'd consider subbing sucanat, turbinado sugar, Stevia or raw honey for the refined white sugar to make the jelly more body-friendly.

I've always wanted to try my hand at making dandelion wine. It takes a few supplies, but you don't need a brew house to do it. The biggest part is collecting enough dandelion blossoms (3 quarts) to make a batch of wine.

The cookie recipe looks absolutely heavenly as well, and can be made with gluten-free flour.
