7 Ways to Detox Indoor Air and Breathe Easier

7 Ways to Detox Indoor Air and Breath Easier by #indoorairquality #asthma

It's hard to believe that indoor air quality can be up to 100 times worse than outdoor air.

It seems that we could count on being more protected inside our homes, right?  Well that's not the case, thanks to thousands of chemicals being released by innocuous-looking products, furniture and building supplies.

You can start improving the air your children breathe while reducing their risk of developing asthma by making these important changes:

  1. Avoid synthetic fragrances in air fresheners, skincare and cleaning products
  2. Choose non-toxic indoor paint (not just non-VOC)
  3. Ditch bleach and aresol oven cleaners
  4. Don't purchase wrinkle-free clothing, bedding or curtains
  5. Invest in non-toxic mattresses (or begin by wrapping conventional mattresses)
  6. Avoid pressed wood/particle board furniture
  7. Install linoleum instead of PVC (vinyl) flooring

The first few steps are simple and quick, but there's no doubt that you'll have to work last few in over time.  It's all about becoming aware and knowing what priorities you should focus on as you continue to move forward on your journey to a healthier home.

Great ideas! If I may add, open your windows! Recirculate and exchange air in the morning or even in the evening. And grow air purifying plants!

#4 — I think you meant “curtains” rather than “cutains.”
