Abeego Beeswax Wraps Make Plastic-free Food Storage Totally Possible

What ARE these beeswax wraps anyway? And WHY would you need them?? To keep food alive, of course!

Abeego is the company behind these extraordinary wraps that are made of hemp and organic cotton fabric infused with a biodegradable blend of beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil. The wraps are meant to replace plastic wrap and zip-top baggies, and can be used to cover bowls, save leftovers or pack a sandwich. They have many uses and can even help with fermenting jobs because of their inherent breathability, letting just the right amount of air inside to keep things a-growin’. Just fold or shape Abeego around whatever you’re aiming to preserve, and voila! Welcome to non-toxic, food-saving heaven.

Another feature I find fantastically helpful is a dual purpose of these wraps; their adept ability to help me open tight jars. Just pick a flat, form it around the lid and twist. Opens like a charm!

Truly Non-toxic and Reusable

Our friends at Abeego are keenly aware of toxins and waste which is why they’ve gone to great lengths to provide a fully non-toxic product that is friendly to people and the earth. The waste they produce is biodegradable, first of all. Secondly, they’ve found creative ways to use excess material: business cards and Twisties, Abeego’s own reusable version of twist ties.

A New Tradition

As a whole, we’ve been very impressed with the product and the company itself since we met them many years ago. Abeego wraps have become staples in our homes, and we recommend them every time we get the chance.

And now, what used to be a generational hand-me-down of plastic wrap and zip-top bags has become a completely different way of doing things. A greater knowledge and product that will be handed down to our children.

People-friendly, biodegradable products from a company worth supporting. Yep, THAT’S the kind of thing we can really get behind!

  • I’ve always disliked using plastic wrap and wondered if there were alternatives other than glass storage which can get bulky and heavy at times. Thanks so much for sharing these, I will definitely give them a try!

Can this be used for freezing meat?..

    • Great question Karen! Here’s what Abeego says about using it in the freezer: “Abeego is a suitable storage solution for short term freezing, however Abeego is breathable and quality may diminish over time. I have attached a Food Safety Fact Sheet from the USDA for your reference. Abeego will not be damaged by the freezer. No cracking will occur and it will not wear more quickly if you are using it for freezing food. You may have to learn some useful folding techniques to ensure you create a package that limits excess air from contacting the food item to be stored.” ~Alicia
