Looking for a safe and effective hand sanitizer recipe you can make yourself without too much fuss? Look no further!
A late season sickness hit our family this month. It was a doozy, so we decided to make another batch of my simple hand sanitizer. After all, the last thing we need is to catch a bug on top of our bug…
We don't use hand sanitizer incessantly because we believe in the benefits of letting our immune systems work it out sometimes. This gives our bodies the chance to come through the other side stronger and more able to fight viruses and bacteria when we inevitably come across them.
We like to use sanitizer when we've been out at public places with our hands all over everything, when we're eating out, or when we're already sick trying not to pile on the pain of another illness. It can definitely be useful during those times, but after that, we're back to playing in the dirt!
We specifically selected these ingredients based on their superior anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties which combine to make one powerful, moisturizing alternative to the toxic hand sanitizers we want to avoid (like Triclosan and synthetic fragrance chemicals).
- 5 Tbsp organic aloe vera gel
- 2 Tbsp organic witch hazel
- 2 tsp organic vegetable glycerin
- 10 drops organic cinnamon essential oil
- 10 drops organic tea tree essential oil
- 5 drops organic orange essential oil
Place all ingredients in a small bowl. Combine well, then use a funnel to move your mixture into a small 3oz squeeze bottle.
You can also add a bit of water to thin the mixture for use in a small spray pump bottle.
